Most of us can visualise the way we’d like to live as we progress through our lives. Maybe we see a more prestigious home or a stylish vehicle in our mind’s eye. Most of us see changes to our appearance; a trimmer physique and a transformed wardrobe.

All of these changes are focusing on what we want to have in our lives, and they’re a great place to start when planning the goals we want to achieve. If we don’t have an idea of how things will be when we’ve made it, the chances are we’ll never get there.

And yet before we can have the things we want, some changes must be made. “The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.” In the words of Einstein. So, we’ll just keep going round and round in circles not moving on if we keep doing the same as we’ve always done!

To have significantly more, we must change the way we think as well as the way we do things. It’s not rocket science to know that there’s going to be a tad of work to do to achieve the things we want to have. We’re familiar with the elementary truth that to get, we first have to give. But doing the work alone won’t necessarily bring the results we want.

People who achieve much in life internalise winning attitudes along the way. They adopt the right behaviour and thought processes. For instance, if our aim is to slim down and lose twenty five pounds in weight, then we must work-out and eat in the same way a lighter, healthier person would do.

Hanging out with friends comes after the work-out’s been completed. The achiever is happy there’ll be plenty more social time down the road (and more admiring glances!) if they put the effort in first. A healthy attitude to dieting makes the slimming process easier, and brings results much faster.

We don’t succeed because we’re lucky! A robust attitude to our efforts will support us when we experience the knocks.

Reading accounts of how achievers survived their journeys to success can help. We come across the same story time after time; their attitude and self-image is what created the results. And so to sum up – If we do our tasks with relish, and be a winner in our minds, we can be assured to have the things we’re working for.

Natural Slimming Plans – In Detail

My wife and I had got to the stage where we knew something HAD to be done about our weight. So we confided in each other about exactly what we wanted and why. Our little tete-a-tete revealed a rather basic wish-list. As far as my wife was concerned, she wanted more get-up-and-go when the kids wanted to do things. Also, she wanted to feel more confident revealing herself to me.

As for me, I wanted to be able to walk into a High St store and have the choice of all the guy’s outfits, not just the few boring ones for fat folks! I also had a strong desire to get to the top of the stairs in our home (three floors) and not be out of breath!

We did our research, and found that as well as considering how we look, we also have to consider how we feel about ourselves. Those of us who are obese tend to have a very low self-image. It’s a popular assumption that reducing weight will make everything in life good again. Katie and I can really relate to this, and thought you might appreciate our take on things.

Our sub conscious mind cannot distinguish between reality and imagination. Therefore, whatever is dominant in our sub-conscious is transferred into our conscious mind. Put another way, a thought that dominates our mind becomes our perception of reality.

Take a little time to ponder on that one… For years we’ve probably been programming our mind about how over weight we are. So instead of telling our subconscious what we don’t want, we should tell it what we DO want.

It’s also important to think about all the great things being slimmer will mean. First off we wrote down the things we could start to enjoy when the excess weight had gone. We came up with – Going for walks in the country, flirting, great sex, going for a swim without embarrassment, playing with the kids, fun on the beach, dancing, cycling and greater happiness.

Then we envisioned ourselves in cool summer clothes, looking great as we enjoyed trips to the beach. Others smiled and welcomed us where-ever we went. We truly started to live…

My wife and I went through the process and can vouch for the results. We both have 100 percent more energy and our new lifestyle brings laughter every day.

Weight Loss Diets Uncovered – Losing Thirty Pounds

Effective weight loss is about two things – what we eat and how much we exercise. This isn’t always what people want to hear, as many would prefer to avoid doing exercises. However, the benefits out-weigh the negatives. When we exercise we burn up calories and we also build muscle.

Metabolically speaking, muscle is more active than fat. Therefore it’s a good idea to build muscle to use up our ‘fuel’. We use up more calories in direct proportion to the amount of muscle we have. Muscle development tones up and defines our overall shape.

It may take time to build up a routine. It’s often easier to get the exercise habit going by being more active in your day to day life. Climb steps rather than taking an elevator whenever possible. If you drive to your job, leave your car at the other end of the parking bay. Get off the bus sooner than you normally do – you’ll quickly get used to the daily mini-hike!

Your goal should be to take some form of exercise five times a week. You can do short bursts of exercise, but 30 minutes or more is generally thought to be best. Doing a variety of exercises will relieve the boredom. That way you’re much more likely to stick with it.

It doesn’t have to be a chore to get fit. Join a club so you don’t feel so alone. Go for a walk whenever you get the chance. Doing that alone can bring huge benefits health-wise.

Getting fit means you can reduce your risk of heart problems by fifty percent. Various cancers are less likely also. If we’re fit and active, we’re much less likely to get high blood pressure. A brisk walk each day will protect against depression and anxiety, and help towards a good night’s sleep. So as well as becoming trimmer over time, we’ll also be much fitter.

When going for a walk, pick out some comfy clothes. Several tee-shirts and a fleece are better than one heavy item. You might like to invest in some specialist footwear. Whether you choose boots or shoes, buy a pair that support your feet well.

At the start of each walk, run through a quick check on your posture. Distribute your weight evenly, and tuck your tummy in. Relax and drop your shoulders down. Warm yourself up properly before you start your walk. This can be done with some stretches, rolling of shoulders and squats. Then finish the warm-up by marching on the spot.

Make a conscious effort to have the correct posture throughout your walk – remember the aim is to get fit and redefine your body shape. When you’ve finished your walk, let your muscles ‘warm-down’ with a bit more stretching and squatting. You’re more likely to stick with the program if you start small and build up. Don’t attempt a ten mile hike on day one! It may be advisable to speak to a training instructor before embarking on an exercise program.

Our friendships can have quite an influence on how we live our lives. Apparently, if we’re in the company of a person for any length of time, we start to mimic their habits. This is usually thought to reflect in people’s opinions and attitudes; having a mutual regard for certain things, like the law or education for example.

Lately though, studies are claiming that we will have more tendency to be overweight if we hang around with others who are overweight. We will eat more when in the company of good friends who eat more. A small study undertaken in America found that overweight kids and teenagers ate more when they were eating with a friend who was also overweight, than when they ate with a normal weight child.

Indeed, all the young people studied (aged 9 to 15) ate more when they were with friends than strangers regardless of their size. But it was when the heavier friends teamed up that the most calories were consumed. Clinical nutritionists were interested in this research. The most revealing dynamic it discovered was the influence of friends.

Frankly, having more relaxed habits when with friends is not a big surprise. We all feel more awkward in strange company. With friends, we gain a sort of unspoken permission for our actions. In a subconscious way, we permit them to define tolerable behaviour.

Over 60 kids and teens of all sizes were reviewed for three quarters of an hour. Some were put with a person they knew well, and some with an unfamiliar person. Every couple had things to play with and food to eat.

The familiar couples put away more food than the unfamiliar ones. But the overweight pairs who were familiar with each other got through the most. And the variations were considerable, as shown below.

The pairs of heavy pals each ate an average of 738 cals. Average weight kids put away five hundred cals whichever weight pal they partnered, though the bigger kids ate less than four hundred and fifty cals when they partnered average weight friends. Comparable evidence of strong influence from friends is evident in attitudes to alcohol consumption by teens.

In conclusion, the researchers suggested that the kids and teens social networks were mainly determining how much food they ate. Yet this power of association can be beneficial, as positive influences are just as possible as negative ones. Hence the necessity to educate the young.

Diet Pills – Eat And Lose 10 Pounds – News

I’ve always had to fight to keep my weight at a reasonable level. I feared that as I reached middle age it would continue to get more difficult. And yet my story has turned our quite differently. Now, I never fear jumping on the scales, as I’m lighter than I was in my thirties.

It’s all about stabilising your blood-sugar level. Late afternoon used to be my low point. So I ate whatever I could find, which generally was highly calorific! All this did was to add to the fat that was already building around my waist.

Not only that, but in addition fat was amassing in my arteries and elsewhere – quite a scary thought. These days, I hardly ever feel drained or half-starved. My husband would say I’m a little easier to live with – seems my moods are more balanced as well! And joy of joys, I can sleep through the night.

So what am I doing? Well, primarily I’m eating smaller meals more often. In my earlier life, I’d grab a coffee instead of lunch on more days than not. But in the evening I would be overwhelmed with gluttony – completely the wrong way to eat.

I ought to have been taking in modest sized ‘meals’ several times a day. Our metabolic rate peaks around the middle of the day, and slows down rapidly after that. Our important meals then are those eaten before the end of the afternoon – later ones have a tendency to be laid down as fat.

Now each morning I always allow time for breakfast. I don’t keep an ultra close eye on every calorie, I just watch how much I eat at a time. The gut only has a limited capacity it can comfortably take, so I’ve learned not to overfill it.

Lunch is now usually my main meal. I try to restrict pasta, rice and wheat. I still enjoy a bite of something around 4pm, but it’s now light and nutritious as the cravings have gone. I eat protein with every meal, and go for as many colourful vegetables as I can find (as they contain the most antioxidants).

The right types of fat should still be included in our diet – this is especially important for good health. I like seeds and nuts in moderation, and salads always get a good glug of olive oil.

The last thing I changed is my alcohol consumption. I now restrict it to two or three glasses a week. The high temperatures I was experiencing are a rarity now – a benefit of less alcohol I think! Have I found it difficult? Not when I think of all the benefits it brings. I’m carrying less weight, have more energy, a clearer and brighter skin, less hormonal challenges – oh, and better sex too!

The Best Diets To Lose 20 Pounds Quickly – Updated

Just because we want to lose weight doesn’t mean that we want to be ostracized from society. This is particularly an issue if we happen to be the family chef; nibbling our own lightweight morsels whilst the aroma of ‘real food’ wafts under our nostrils! This can be frustrating, so let’s look at how we can integrate our weight loss program into regular family meals.

Let’s start with portion sizes – whatever’s on our plate, if we want to lose weight we should eat less. So find yourself a plate that’s about two-thirds the normal size. You won’t feel so deprived, because you can still fill the plate when you serve up. Wait until the rest of your family or friends have started eating before you start. Then slowly savour every mouthful you take. (Not only will this prevent you from finishing much sooner than the rest, it will also leave you feeling more replete.)

Basically you can often eat the same food as your family is eating, but cut down on the amount of rice, pasta, potatoes and fatty meat. Eat more veg to avoid getting too hungry. Just don’t be tempted to fill up on bread rolls! If you have a sweet tooth, take care not to go overboard. A portion of stewed apple from the crumble is one thing, but treacle sponge and custard is quite another.

On the other hand, you can make slimmer’s meals for everyone. No-one need suspect they’re eating a low-cal meals with some of the recipes you can use. Use lemon juice, garlic and fresh herbs for a really scrummy pasta dish. Tinned tomatoes are a great base for the sauce, and no oil is needed if you stir in a little low fat creme fraiche before serving.

When you’re shopping for food, always pick out lean cuts of meat. Remember also that fish can be a lower fat alternative. Whatever the rest of your family weigh, it’s still advantageous for them as well to eat lean meat. Roast chicken is a good all-rounder, just make sure you remove any skin and eat breast meat where possible. Select potatoes that have a naturally creamier texture, such as Vivaldi or Maris Piper. Then you can feel fulfilled without loading them with butter.

Whole wheat or oats are the best cereals to buy – and choose ones that don’t have any additional sugar. Leave cereal bars alone too. Even these have far too many calories for the amount of food you’re eating. There are also many ‘hidden’ cals in a lot of drinks. If you drink cola or other sodas, always buy the diet varieties.

Wine and beer can be very fattening, so try to limit it where possible. Tomato juice with Worcestershire sauce and ice has a good kick and makes a change. As apple juice is particularly strong in flavour, water it down half and half and serve it in a wine glass for more sophistication!

It’s obvious that we’re not going to lose weight if we continue as we are. But it’s amazing how a small shift here and there can dramatically help along the way.
